Rizwan Took Six Catches Behind The Wickets
ADELAIDE – In the second ODI of the three-match series between Pakistan and Australia at Adelaide Oval, Pakistan’s right-arm pacer Haris Rauf and captain Mohammad Rizwan both achieved significant milestones on Friday.
Haris claimed five wickets in an impressive performance, surpassing both Shaheen Shah Afridi and Saqlain Mushtaq for the highest number of wickets (77) by a Pakistani bowler after 39 ODIs. Previously, both Shaheen and Saqlain had managed 76 wickets within the same number of matches. Haris, since his ODI debut on October 30, 2020, also holds the highest wicket tally among fast bowlers from any full-member nation. Only Bilal Khan of Oman, with 83 wickets, has taken more wickets in this time frame
Meanwhile, Pakistan’s white-ball skipper, Rizwan, equalled the record for the most catches taken by a wicketkeeper in an ODI, with six catches. This achievement put him level with notable keepers like Australia’s Adam Gilchrist, South Africa’s Mark Boucher and Quinton de Kock, England’s Alec Stewart and Matt Prior, Scotland’s Matthew Cross, and fellow Pakistani Sarfaraz Ahmed. Rizwan had a chance to set a new record when he positioned himself for a catch from Adam Zampa in the 34th over off Naseem Shah’s bowling but, unfortunately, spilled it.
